Big Bear came to SHRF from a Good Samaritan who took him in from his owner who could no longer care for him. He was emaciated and covered in ticks when he was first taken in by the Good Samaritan and has slowly started gaining weight and is now tick free.
He is a very sweet, young adult Husky boy who, although initially in poor health, through the care he was given previously and the care he is currently receiving with SHRF, is on the road to completely restored health. He is presently being treated for the diseases he picked up from the ticks and will also be treated for Heartworms. He will be a strong and healthy Husky in just a matter of a few weeks.
Big Bear gets along well with dogs of all sizes and loves to play. He is in a foster home with children, who he absolutely loves. Big Bear has an easy going personality and for a Husky is relatively calm. He knows the sit and shake commands. One of his favorite things to chew on are his marrow bones.
Big Bear is Heartworm positive and will be undergoing treatment once the vet confirms he is healthy enough. He will be treated using the "slow kill" method. His adopter will be provided with instructions on this method as well as Heartworm medication.
Big Bear is otherwise healthy, up-to-date on vaccines, neutered and microchipped. This poor boy has missed out on the joy of puppyhood; make his adulthood a happy time, fill out an adoption application at the upper left corner of this page, today.
