Sky is an easy-going and mellow boy who SHRF pulled from a county shelter where he was waiting for someone to rescue him. Like many rescues, he was scared at first, but who wouldn’t be after spending some undeserved time at the dog slammer?!

His folded left ear is not a trick he performs. After a few days in foster care, we noticed he did not show the expected response to sounds. His vet said the cartilage in one of his ears had turned to calcium, which caused constant pain and ear infections. He has had surgery to repair this; the cartilage was removed and the ear closed. As a result, he has no hearing in that ear, but he is now healed, comfortable, and pain-free. Of course, once the pain was gone, he is showing his gratitude. Look at the smile on his face in the picture where he’s racing around the yard - this is one happy dog. We think his new image gives him a special appealing look, kind of saucy, like a French beret … and we think he is as handsome as ever.

Sky is a fantastic boy loaded with good qualities. As part of his training, he has visited homes with cats and showed no interest in them, even when one of the cats got close or took off running around him. We would say he is cat-friendly, but always recommend caution during introductions. He has also met peacocks and thinks they are not worth chasing either.

He walks well on leash and loves to spend time looking at the neighborhood’s action through the window. This boy knows how to entertain himself. He loves his toys and likes to have them nearby. Even if you pick them up and put them away, he will sneak in and retrieve them when you’re not looking. A basket with his toys of choice would bring many joyful memories.

Sky is food motivated and will sit for a treat, which makes him open to learning new things. He is crate trained, but does not need to be crated because he is not destructive at all. He is also house-broken and lets you know when he needs to go out to take care of business. His foster family has lovingly shown him what a Husky's life should be and he is determined to find a home that will only show him the love and compassion he deserves.

Sky is low Heartworm positive but otherwise healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, and microchipped. His Heartworm will be treated using the "slow kill" method. SHRF will provide his adopter with instructions on this method as well as supply the Heartworm medication.

If you are the kind of person for whom “unique” is an important trait, Sky is the perfect match for you. Give this boy a well-deserved chance; fill out an adoption application at the upper left corner of this page, today.
