Dog Name: Koda Blue
Number: 563
Age: 10 Months (DoB 9/15/2013.) Sex: Male
Coat: Black and White
Eyes: Blue
Intake: 6/7//2014

Koda Blue’s owners could no longer care for him due to their health issues so they surrendered him to SHRF to find him a loving, forever home. He is a handsome boy who was well cared for, spoiled and loved dearly by his previous owners during the time they had him.

Koda Blue (Koda for short) is friendly and effervescent, immediately warming up to everyone when he is out greeting people and other pups. He loves to get belly rubs and ear scratches from humans, including children and to play with other dogs - any size, big or small In his exuberance he is inclined to jump up wanting to lick your face so his fosters are working on that. He only needs to be told once to get down and then he will sit instead of trying to jump on you again.

He is well-behaved during car rides, sitting calmly in the car and watching everything go by in total fascination - it's really fun to watch him just take it all in!

Koda loves to go on walks and tends to pull in the beginning until he settles into the pace. He loves to play and does play a little rough but nothing excessive for a typical Husky pup. He knows some commands like “sit”, “shake”, “spin” and “down” and will be quick to learn any new ones. He loves exploring during his walks and that includes trying to chase squirrels and ducks, and yes, cats, but this seems to be a game of "chase" to him. Even so, we recommend caution with cats and any other small animals.

He is housebroken and crate trained, although, as do most Huskies, he prefers to be outside of the crate amongst his humans. He will thank you with tons of kisses when you let him out of the crate and also when he is greeting you.

He is well behaved in the house, doesn’t chew on furniture or shoes, but will quickly pounce on his toys and rawhide chewy bones. He does not show any urge to jump on furniture but a little on the bed where he will wake you up with kisses. We believe that he may have slept in the bed with his former owners (as Huskies were originally bred to do) but he won’t fuss if asked to go into the crate at night. Then again, why wouldn’t you want to cuddle up with him, it’s like sleeping with a plush toy next to you.

He will try a bit of counter surfing, but usually only at his feeding time during the morning and evening meals. He doesn't seem to do it when his fosters are preparing human meals, but will stand by for a hopeful “taste”.

Koda Blue is healthy, Heartworm negative, neutered, up-to-date on shots, and will be microchipped prior to adoption. Be sure you are ready to take on this active young Husky's lifestyle before completing an application for him. He may actually get you in shape.
