Sage is a wonderfully sweet, four-year-old female who is looking for the family she never had. She was exiled to the back yard when her young owner left home and she spent the last couple of years neglected and ignored. When first meeting Sage, it is immediately apparent that she is gentle and friendly. She loves to meet new people but does not jump or get overly excited.
For having lived most of her life outdoors, Sage does amazingly well in the house. Possibly, she spent her early years indoors as she is housebroken and she does prefer to stay inside. She also does well in a crate. Sage has been working on her house manners, but she feels that most things left lying on the floor have her name on them. She especially loves newspapers and paper products, and will happily shred them for you. She responds well to correction and just needs some consistency to learn what is expected of her, as do all Huskies.
Sage loves walks and does well on lead. She will spend time outside in the yard, but prefers to stay close to her humans, probably as the result of being left alone outside so long. Sage is presently in a foster home with three children and another Husky and is doing well, although she seems to want to be the Alpha female. She does have an unhealthy interest in cats and small animals and we recommend she not be placed in a home with cats.
Sage came to our rescue heartworm positive and is undergoing treatment. You may notice her ear tips are a bit ragged which we believe is the result of being gnawed at by insects. Such is the fate of being kept outdoors 24/7. Even through all of this, Sage has not lost her love for people.
